#Thursday Thoughts SEL Newsletter
This year, one of our school goals is Social and Emotional Learning (SEL).
SEL is not just for establishing social connections or making one feel better; instead, it is to help students develop a wholesome personality and attitude. In today's diverse workplace, soft skills are equally important as - if not more important than -academic skills. The soft skills ensure a productive, collaborative and healthy work environment.
In the school context, SEL is a process through which students learn to acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions, and achieve personal and collective goals. SEL makes students feel and show empathy towards others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions. Research shows that SEL also helps students excel in academics. All in all, SEL forms an integral part of education and human development.
On the first Thursday of every month, you will receive an SEL newsletter called #Thursday Thoughts, which will provide you with several tips, articles, and relevant resources. If you come across any useful resources that you find worth sharing with others, please feel free to email Mrs. Mendiratta. If suitable, we will include them in our newsletter.
